Bermuda opened the Teams Event facing off against Guyana, the number one seeded team who are heavily favoured to win the Teams Championship.  The match was played on the newly constructed courts at the National Racquets Center (the first and only public courts in the Caribbean).

The Bermuda Boys team could best be described as relaxed but poised.  Each member of the team played brilliantly and almost pulled off the impossible coming within two points in one game from pulling off the upset of the tournament.  With the match tied at 2 a piece Dylan Pratt and Guyana’s Ben Mekdeci took to the court.  The rallies and shot making were to the crowd’s delight.  What was most pleasing was the sportsmanship both players exemplified with each player calling their own double bounces and commenting on each other’s great shots.  You couldn’t ask for a better way to end a close match.  Once the dust settled Guyana won 3 matches vs. 2 matches.

Madeleine Rose had the lone win in the Bermuda Girls 4-1 lost to Guyana.  Rose had a strong showing against Guyana’s U13, Lydia Alphonso.  Guyana took control of the remaining matches.  Bermuda looks to recover for their match against Cayman Island.
