Dear Members,
On behalf of the BSRA Committee, Staff and myself may I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.
2009 should prove to be a big year for the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association with many plans that have been in the pipeline for some time finally becoming reality.
The next 12 months will see many changes and improvements to the current BSRA facility;
· State of the art Plexigass and framing installed on all courts
· Refurbishment of the bar area including;
- Back bar area
- Fridges
- New style bar with leg room!
- Refinishing of bar floor area
· Remodeling of entrance area
· Major cleaning of all court walls and repair/replacement of court flooring
· Introduction of online booking system
· Replacement of some gym equipment
· We have agreement from Somersfield to build the outside balcony so subject to planning permission, and IF we feel we have sufficient funds, construction may commence.
Obviously all of this work will be completed at different times to minimize any disruption to members, parts of it will begin immediately and others will be an ongoing process which may take some months to complete.
The BSRA itself is in a strong position to take on all of these upgrades without the need to borrow any capital and have also devised a plan which will maintain a healthy buffer zone to protect the club and it’s members as we struggle through these uncertain financial times.
News of all these ideas and plans I hope will be good news to members new and old. Some of you have been with us for many years and some may have only joined at last weeks open night! Everybody will be able to enjoy the new upgraded facilities into the future and the BSRA will remain to be Bermuda’s best value and premier squash facility.
Keep an eye out for emails from Dave and Patrick in the near future informing you of information on each of these upgrades as they happen and how they will affect you.
All the best for 2009 and Happy Squashing,
David Gibbons
BSRA President
